Travel Guide
Colombia
Colombia is a nation in the northwest of South America, with 1,000 miles of coast to the north along the Caribbean Sea and 800 miles to the west along the Pacific Ocean. Its broken, rugged terrain, paired with its location near the Equator, creates an incredible diversity of climates, vegetation and crops including Colombiaโs beloved, coffee (the most delicious said to be found in the capital city of Bogotรก).
The country is also home to unmatched natural beauty, including the Cocora Valley, where visitors hike among 200-foot-tall wax palms, Colombiaโs national tree, poisonous mushrooms and graceful hummingbirds. Medellรญn is a green city known for its pleasant climate, fertile soil and variety of flowers. And Tayrona National Park and Caรฑo Cristales are other sites off the beaten path and ones Iโd visit if given another chance. The port city of Cartagena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with Old Town dating back to the 16th century, filled with cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings. If thatโs not enough, Colombia is celebrated for having a diverse culture, with a rich history of writers, poets, artists and musicians.
