Antigua & Barbuda
Antigua and Barbuda is a country in the Caribbean Leeward Islands and part of the Lesser Antilles, where the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet. The country is made up of two major islands, Antigua and Barbuda, that are about 25 miles apart, along with several smaller islands. Itโs a coral island, giving the beautiful coastline turquoise green water, white sand beaches and unique rock formations. The island is most known for its 365 beaches, one for each day of the year, offering visitors endless amounts of swimming, sunbathing and water sports.
Antigua is also famous for its rich maritime history, still present today at Nelsonโs Dockyard, and its vibrant culture. Food wise, the national dish is fungee and pepperpot, fungee being a cornmeal made from okra and pepperpot a hearty stew, a combination that reaches tropical perfection. The island is home to several animal sanctuaries where visitors can get up close and personal with animals like donkeys and tortoises.
